... and with the maximum amount of individuality and stamina he enjoys the "Three Holy Faschings (Carnival) Days".
Various "Maschkera groups" roam through the town and the inns. Organised carnival parades are not necessarily a must. What happens during these three days is more often the result of spontaneity, the art of improvisation and witty ideas.
Faschings (Carnival) is the 5th season in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut. Nothing is as it was, the "Maschkera" have taken over the streets. Trommelweiber, Flinserl and Pless dominate the town on Faschings Monday and Faschings Tuesday. A very special experience for all guests.
In particular, the "Maschkera" (masked characters) have the fool's freedom. Very little escapes their attention. Inconsistencies and omissions are made public, faschings letters are read and sung in the taverns. All the embarrassments suffered by fellow citizens during the past year are publicised without mercy. The faschings letter is derived from the medieval "Rügegericht", which allowed servants to criticise their masters on one particular day every year.
