The youngest Ausseerland parish is the parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Grundlsee.

Excerpt from the Parish Establishment Deed of January 22, 1953

The Episcopal Seckau Ordinariate in Graz hereby certifies the following: In the parish of Grundlsee, which belongs to the deanery parish of Bad Aussee, the need for its own church arose due to the modern development into a tourist resort.

To achieve this goal, a building committee was formed in 1888 and the foundation stone was laid on November 19 of that year. On June 13, 1989, the chapel was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (in short: Sacred Heart Church). It was declared a branch church of the parish of Bad Aussee.

From the departure of the first permanently employed missionary Albrecht Count Meran (1902-1928), the church came into possession of his chalice and the so-called frog field. In 1950 the parish office of Bad Aussee requested from the episcopal ordinariate the establishment of an independent pastoral office or a separate parish in Grundlsee. The boundaries of the new parish were determined by mutual agreement. The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is provided with the necessary inventory. The new parish also receives its own cemetery, which was approved by the building and sanitary authorities on October 22, 1951....

Memory of four special priests in and for Grundlsee:

Albrecht Count Meran (1874-1928) The youngest of the four grandchildren of Archduke Johann is the first priestly personality whose work is inseparably connected with the then "Sacred Heart Chapel".

DDDDr. Johannes Ude (1874-1965) ...came to Ausseerland through the effect of the unspeakable time of National Socialism in 1938 and worked until his death on July 7, 1965.

Valentin Feiner (1912-1988) He is the "founding pastor" of Grundlsee and worked as pastor until 1966.

OStR. Prof. Anton Steinwender (1931-2009) ...is the priest who served the longest in Grundlsee.
