If you stop for a break at the "Talking Stone", you will sometimes hear strange noises.

Scientists who investigated the history of the name found that the Talking Stone was actually called the Reddening Stone. Because of the play of colors that can be observed there in the pale sunlight. In fact, hikers coming from the Appelhaus and stopping here for a while will sometimes hear strange noises.

The wind roaring through the rock actually talks.

The nearest refuge is the Albert Appel House of the Austrian Tourist Association.
