Experience nature on foot and take a proper breath of fresh air. Nowhere is this better than at the Grazerhütte, in a beautiful location with great views and sunshine.
The Grazerhütte, built in 1928 and managed by world citizen and friend of the Dalai Lama Heinrich Harrer from 1933 to 1934, is located directly along the 6-Lakes-Hike. For ambitious and experienced guests, the Traweng can be accessed via the regular path or the Gamsblick via ferrata just behind the house.
For your refreshment, we offer typical hut food as well as freshly tapped beer, well-kept wines from Burgenland and Styria, and a good schnapps. Available either in the cozy, rustic hut or on our sun terrace with panoramic views.
Our hut offers cozy beds for up to 52 guests - half in double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, or six-bed rooms, and the other half in two dormitories for 12 and 14 people respectively. We provide fresh and soft bed linen.
Additional comfort is provided by our shared washrooms with showers - warm and free - and separate sinks for men and women, the solar-assisted central heating, our ski room and boot dryer, toilets on each floor, and Wi-Fi throughout the hut. An infrared cabin helps to rejuvenate tired muscles. For little hikers, there is also a sandbox, toys and games, a travel cot, books, changing pads, high chairs, travel cots, etc.
In summer, our guests are right next to the popular family-friendly 6-Lakes-Hike, a scenic gem. The lake hike along six crystal-clear mountain lakes offers unforgettable views of the Grimming, the Sturzhahn (once the climbing mountain of Heinrich Harrer) and enchants with lush flora and fauna. For the sporty type, the Grazerhütte serves as an ideal starting point for hikes and alpine tours. Shortly after the Grazerhütte, the ascent to the Traweng (1,981 meters) begins. The “Gamsblick” via ferrata is in close proximity.
In winter, the Tauplitzalm is car-free and our vacationers find wonderful ski and snowshoe tours as well as a winter hiking trail right outside the door. The entire Tote Gebirge can be explored from here. The cross-country ski track is in a stunning location and is well-groomed - entry possible directly at the Grazerhütte. Of course, our hut is also suitable for alpine skiers. The 43 magnificent kilometers of slopes at Tauplitz (with children’s area) can be reached on skis. Ski schools and a ski rental are available nearby.
For groups, we will create a non-binding offer for you. You are welcome to reserve the entire hut for yourselves. Due to its unique location, the Grazerhütte is well suited for seminars and team-building events. Casual atmosphere, outdoor opportunities right at the doorstep: both winter and summer.
We are happy to assist you via phone or email regarding any inquiries about a stay at the Grazerhütte in Tauplitz!
